Master of the mystical arts, Doctor Stephen Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme, but Stephen didn't start out as a hero. Instead, he was portrayed as a selfish neurosurgeon. After losing both hands in an accident, his outlook on life has changed without exception. In search of new ways to heal himself, he finally found the old man. After receiving the magical being's teaching, Strange was able to use his hands again, but not to perform operations but to cast spells, becoming the Sorcerer Supreme.
As one of the most powerful mortals of all time, there is little Doctor Strange cannot do. With access to incredible magic, Doctor Strange can teleport, astral project, create force fields, manipulate the fabric of dimensions, fly, shape reality to his will if he chooses, and possess virtually every other magical power imaginable . The only limits are those of the character's authors and Stephen's own restraint. Despite this, there are several different versions of Doctor Strange due to the multiverse that the Marvel Universe is in. Today on CBR we're taking a look at several versions of Doctor Strange that are stronger than the original, and some that aren't quite the wizard of the moment.

15 STRONGER: PUNISHER / DOCTOR STRANGE SECRET WAR
EmSecret Wars: Battleworld#1, the ghost of an alternate alternate reality, Doctor Strange possesses the Punisher after being bitten by vampires. The possessed Punisher was not disgusted by this new power. Using a combination of Strange's mysticism and tactical knowledge, he fought against the forces of doom in all realities. Aptly (and surprisingly) named Soldier Supreme, Frank Castle held nothing back.
While Strange's vaunted powers could have been wasted in the hands of any other hero, the Punisher wielded them with deadly efficiency.
To him, the mystical arts were just an unlimited supply of weapons. He effortlessly killed both the Hulk and Ghost Rider, blasting the latter with a magical bazooka. Unfortunately, the Punisher was slain and left glory shining in his wake, but not before Strange possessed the body of an evil Wolverine.
14 WEAKEST: DOCTOR STRANGE 1602
by Neil GaimanWunder 1602Taking place in the 17th century, it was a bold reimagining of beloved Marvel characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. The miniseries portrayed a world where Marvel heroes appeared during the Elizabethan era. In this universe, Doctor Strange played a role similar to that of John Dee, adviser to Queen Elizabeth I on all things mystical.
Throughout the series, Strange has attempted to uncover the reasons for the strange weather plaguing Europe. After Doctor Doom and King James of Scotland killed Queen Elizabeth, Strange convinced this world's Nick Fury to attack Latveria. Although this Doctor Strange did indeed possess power, his specialty lay in knowledge and wisdom rather than transcendental spells. When Strange learned that a time traveler had caused all of the world's troubles, he was sworn to secrecy and then had himself executed for treason. From there he helped the heroes of the otherworldly world.
13 STRONGER: DOCTOR STRANGE
In one of their only crossovers, Marvel and DC Comics created the world of Amalgam. Ultimately, it was a failed PR stunt to boost sales. Still, it was a fun ride as they literally blended fan-favorite characters into different heroes. The most powerful of all the Amalgam characters was Doctor Strangefate.
A combination of Doctor Strange, Dr. Doom and Professor X, he had a wide array of mystical abilities and devastating telepathic powers.
Strangefate was so powerful that he recognized the transient nature of the Amalgam Universe and attempted to prevent its destruction. Despite being more powerful than any of his peers, he was unable to sustain his entire universe. However, when his universe died, he found sanctuary in Doctor Strange's psyche and started the following series.DC/Marvel: All Access. Fists followed, but eventually, at Strangefate's request, Strange recreated the Amalgam Universe as a pocket size and sent Strangefate home.
12 WEAK: WHAT IF THE PUNISHER/DOCTOR IS STRANGE?
While Doctor Strange and the Punisher don't interact very often in the main Marvel universe, they seem to blend into alternate realities fairly frequently. Although the two are best known for their union duringsecret wars, this wasn't the first time they were crushed. In theWonder what if...?#24, Wolverine is bitten by Dracula, killing the evil vampire and becoming the Vampire Lord himself. Not content with his power, Wolverine turns all of Earth's heroes into vampires or kills those who cannot/will not be changed.
True to his nature, the Punisher is among the last heroes standing. Doctor Strange imbues Frank Castle with his magic and the newly empowered Punisher begins killing vampires left and right. Unfortunately, his lack of experience with magic results in him being killed by Wolverine after killing Kitty Pryde.
11 STRONGER: DOCTOR STRANGE 2099
Though the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme is passed from student to student, it is surprising how many misfits turn out to be women. That all changed with Doctor Strange in 2099. The young woman who calls herself "Stranger" is the Sorcerer Supreme of the world. She is stronger than almost any stranger before or after her and secretly shares her body with a demon.
While she might not have all the experience of Doctor Stephen Strange, that hardly slows her down — she's got enough raw power to be almost irrelevant.
One of the biggest advantages of Strange is that the demon that lives inside her also protects her from big changes in the world. This means she knows if she is trapped in an alternate reality like that seen in Secret Wars and will not be affected by time differences.
10 WEAKEST: AGE OF X DOCTOR STRANGE
In the timeline known as the Age of X, the world has collapsed. After a mutant girl unleashed a phoenix-like blast of fire, 600,000 people died and Albany, New York was destroyed. As a result, the US government passes anti-mutant laws and begins hunting down and rounding up mutants.
Magneto, a well-known "terrorist", frees dozens of mutants and turns downtown New York into his Fortress X. Unwilling to take it, the government sends a group of heroes to kill the mutants. One of the heroes on the government list is Doctor Strange. He is a hired mutant hunter and does his job very well. In reality it's all a hoax as he actually works for Magneto and teleports mutants to safety once he finds them. This Doctor Strange cannot overthrow the governments of the world like his main self does.
Incredible Hulks Annual#1 introduced an alternate reality where Bruce Banner is the Sorcerer Supreme. On Earth-11638, the Amazing Spider introduced Bruce Banner to Doctor Stephen Strange. Doctor Strange taught Banner everything he knew until he felt safe enough to leave the planet and allowed Banner to be Sorcerer Supreme. One of Banner's first acts was to banish the Hulk from himself and throw the Rage Monster into Hell.
This wasn't a fantastic idea as the Hulk later returned, corrupted by his time in the underworld and now known as the Infernal Hulk.
He defeated the infernal Hulk, but at the cost of his life. But before he died, Bruce left his physical form to explore the astral plane. From there he also freed Amazing Spider from Hell and gave him a chance to be a hero like Ghost Spider.
8 WEAKEST: DOCTOR STRANGE BULLET POINTS
A defining element in Doctor Stephen Strange's life was the loss of his hands. As a world-renowned neurosurgeon, Strange's inability to perform surgery has destroyed his soul. When he first met the Elder, his hands had another use: magic. However, there are still a few alternate universes where Stephen Strange never earns the title of Sorcerer Supreme and his path to magic is cut short. In the 2006 seriesvignettes, written by J. Michael Straczynski, introduced readers to an alternate reality.
In this world, Steve Rogers never received the Super Soldier serum and therefore never became Captain America. The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Not Nick Fury, but Reed Richards. As best he could, Richards fixed Strange by giving him cybernetic hands. This meant that the "Ancient One" remained as Earth's Supreme Wizard.
7 STRONGER: LOKI THAN DOCTOR STRANGE
There were only a handful of characters who attempted to take the mantle of Doctor Strange's Sorcerer Supreme. That's usually quite a daunting task, but not for Loki, the Asgardian god of mischief. After stealing the title of stranger from under the wizard's nose, Loki begins protecting Earth.
At first it might seem like a bad idea to blame Loki for anything, let alone the safety of a planet, but he actually did a pretty decent job.
Loki was Loki, he really didn't like dressing up. Instead, he just wore his iconic horned helmet, but also had the Cloak of Levitation draped over it, occasionally letting him do his thing. Due to his godlike nature, Loki possesses physical strength almost on par with Thor and is already a master of magic, the combination making him a remarkably powerful Sorcerer Supreme.
6 WEAKEST: LAST DOCTOR STRANGE
Not only is Ultimate Marvel Universe known for killing main characters on the fly, but its superheroes are much weaker than in the main Marvel Universe, and Ultimate Doctor Strange is no exception to this rule. Although their backgrounds are largely the same, he eventually marries Clea and has a son, Stephen Strange Jr. The Senior Doctor Strange disappears and Clea raises Stephen Jr.'s former assistant. Strange, Wong, who later became Strange Jr. the mystical arts. Even so, Strange Jr's abilities weren't refined and they weren't as powerful as they should have been.
Because of this, Ultimate Doctor Strange's most memorable moment came during the 2009 "Ultimatum" event, when he suffered one of the most gruesome and undeserved deaths in comics. Killed by Dormammu, Strange's head literally explodes as the demon performs its sadistic act.
5 STRONGER: STRANGE DOCTOR(S) FROM THE FUTURE
It shouldn't be too surprising, but despite his great power, Doctor Stephen Strange is not immortal. However, his role as Sorcerer Supreme is. The title was held for hundreds if not thousands of years. In various Marvel futures, there is usually some sort of Doctor Strange.
In the 2014 Centenary Special: Avengers readers watched as a future incarnation of the Avengers squared off against a descendant of the Mole Man. The present was the 17th incarnation of Doctor Strange.
In den 1990ernProtector of the GalaxySeries depicted the alternate future as a 31st Century version of the Marvel Universe. In this continuity, Doctor Strange became the new "Ancient One" and trained Krugarr. Almost every future version of Doctor Strange seems to be more powerful than the original, as they all received more centuries of wisdom.
4 WEAKEST: DR. ORPHEUS
While not technically a version of Doctor Strange, nor does he exist in the Marvel Comics universe, Dr.the risk brothersThe TV show is a direct reference to the character. Known for taking the Johnny Quest formula and shamelessly turning it on its head, the risk brothersHe takes smart pop culture pictures and is incredibly confident. One of the first characters of the series was Dr. Orpheus, a necromancer who has moved into part of the Venture family estate.
The doctor. Orpheus was something of a funny character, poking fun at the ridiculousness of magic-based comic book heroes. Although his appearance resembles that of Doctor Strange, Orpheus has no idea how to protect the planet from mystical threats. In addition, Orpheus is a member of the Order of the Triad, a group of supernatural characters. One of them is Jefferson Twilight, a riff on Marvel's Blade.
3 STRONGER: MORDO DOCTOR STRANGE
Every superhero has an enemy. For Doctor Strange, Baron Mordo is the hero's cautionary tale. 1983,And yes...?Issue #40 addressed the question: what if Baron Mordo had become Doctor Strange? In this story, Nightmare recruits Mordo to stop Strange from becoming a hero. And so Mordo and Nightmare manipulate the Ancient One by calling Mordo the Supreme Wizard. When Strange came to train with the Old One, he learned simple meditation techniques and left.
Strange returned years later, plagued by nightmares, seeking Mordo's help.
Instead, Mordo trapped him in Nightmare's dream dimension. Later, Dormammu and Nightmare fought, the Ancient One died, and Strange meditated on his path to freedom. Mordo was a deadlier Sorcerer Supreme than Stephen Strange, but since this is Strange's story, he somehow tapped into unfathomable power and defeated Mordo, Dormammu, and Nightmare.
2 WEAKEST: ZOMBIE DOCTOR STRANGE
Doctor Strange is no stranger to fighting the unusual and the macabre. He comes with the job description of being the Sorcerer Supreme and protecting the world from magical threats. Unfortunately, Strange wasn't lucky enough to survive the alternate reality ofWunder Zombies. Thanks to a zombie version of the Sentry, the heroes of the world are transformed into super-powered cannibals. Though he survived longer than most and helped destroy a dimensional gateway that allowed zombies to travel between realities, it wasn't enough to keep him alive.
Interestingly, almost every other Marvel zombie has gotten stronger or more deadly, but the Zombie Doctor Strange hasn't. Looking dumber than ever, he spent most of his time simply delving into alternate realities to try to find new sources of potential victims.
1 STRONGER: MCU DOCTOR STRANGE
Fans occasionally make life difficult for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the heroes and villains are often weaker than their comic book counterparts. The MCU version of Doctor Strange is a different matter. Although its origin is practically the same as the starting material, it does not suffer from its reduced performance. In fact, he might even be stronger than the comic Doctor Strange.
One of the main reasons for this is MCU Strange's control over time and space.
Using the Infinity Gem of Time, Strange can reverse time, freeze it, and use it in many creative ways such as B. to bring him back to life after being repeatedly killed by Dormammu. Also inThor: Ragnarök, we've seen him teleport a being as powerful as Loki into an endless limbo; It has been suggested that he may have kept it there forever.
