WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START:
– The garage door operator can operate during programming. Make sure the garage door opening is clear of people or obstructions.
– Do not press the LEARN button for more than 2-3 seconds as this may cause existing remote controls and control panel to stop working.
Below are the brands and specifications that this remote is compatible with, as well as the methods available to program them. Review Table A for compatibility and method, then proceed to STEP 1.

NOTE: The garage door opener will work during programming. Make sure the garage door opening is clear of people or obstructions.
STEP 1: SEARCH FOR SPECS AND LEARN BUTTON
- Locate the opener/receiver brand and specifications for your device by looking at the opener/receiver label, instruction manual, current opener remote controls, or the original opener/receiver manufacturer.
- Locate the LEARN/PROG button on your device; the shape, color or name of this button may vary depending on the brand. Be sure to check under the light covers on garage door openers. On commercial or gate openers, this button may be located on the opener's circuit board. In some cases, this button may also be located on or near an external receiver mounted on or near the product. If necessary, consult the device manual.

STEP 3 - CHOOSE A PROGRAMMING OPTION
See Table A to find your specifications and available programming options. You can use any combination of options available for your opener/spec combination to achieve the button configuration you desire. Each button can be individually programmed to operate up to 4 different brands of garage door openers and gate receivers.
OPTION 1: QUICK START METHOD
See FIGURE 1 to use one of these four factory presets to quickly program a key.
Flavor 1: Genie Intellicode 1 or Top Gate CodeDodger I
Button 2: Chamberlain® with a PURPLE LEARN button
Button 3: Chamberlain® with an ORANGE/RED LEARN button
Button 4: Chamberlain® with a YELLOW button LEARN*: Go directly to Chamberlain® Yellow
Learn the key instructions shown to the right.
When using button 1, 2 or 3:
- On the garage door opener, press and release the LEARN button for 2-3 seconds.
- On the universal remote, press and release the preset button that corresponds to your opener every 2 seconds until the garage door opener operates. The programming is complete.
ABOVE:Stop the Universal Transmitter LED from flashing before pressing the next button.
OPTION 2: LEARNING METHOD
With this method, your universal remote learns which specification to work with.
- Locate and record the required number of keystrokes in the LEARN METHOD column next to your markings/specifications in Table A.
- On the universal remote, press and hold #2. (Reference Fig. 1)
- Hold down button #2 and press button #4 four times on the universal remote.
- Release both buttons: the BLUE LED on the remote will begin to flash.
- On the universal remote, press the button of your choice from step 1 as many times as necessary. You have 15 seconds to complete this task.
- Wait the remaining 15 seconds - the BLUE LED flashes for a long time, then goes out.
*If using Chamberlain with the yellow LEARN button, skip to the Chamberlain® YELLOW LEARN button instructions shown to the right. If you are using ANOTHER brand/specification, please continue below. - On the garage door opener, press and release the LEARN button for 2-3 seconds.
- On the universal remote, press and release the button you just programmed once every 2 seconds until the garage door opener works. The programming is complete.
ABOVE:Stop the Universal Transmitter LED from flashing before pressing the next button.
OPTION 3: TEACH AND PAIR
You must have a working remote to use this method. The universal remote can learn from an existing working remote and then pair with the available brands/specs in Table A.
- On the universal remote, press and hold #1.
- Hold down button #1 and press button #2 on the universal remote four times.
- Release both buttons: the WHITE LED on the remote will begin to flash slowly.
- Place your existing plug-and-play remote and universal remote within 4 inches of each other.
- Press and hold the control button on the original remote. Do not let go until the new universal remote changes from slow flashing WHITE to fast flashing BLUE. You have 20 seconds to complete your entry.
ABOVE:If the universal remote does not recognize the transmission, try different distances between 0 and 4 inches from the side of the universal remote closest to buttons 1 and 3. - When the BLUE LED on the Universal Remote is flashing rapidly, slowly and deliberately press the button of your choice on the Universal Remote once. The BLUE LED comes on steady and then goes off. *If you are using Chamberlain with the yellow LEARN button, please skip to the Chamberlain® YELLOW LEARN button instructions below. If you are using ANOTHER brand/specification, please continue below.
- On the garage door opener, press and release the LEARN button for 2-3 seconds.
- On the universal remote, press and release the button you just programmed once every 2 seconds until the garage door opener works. This can occupy multiple printers. The programming is complete.
TIP: Stop the Universal Transmitter LED from blinking before pressing the next button.
* YELLOW CHAMBERLAIN® BUTTON INSTRUCTIONS:
For use with Chamberlain® technology with a YELLOW LEARN button:
- On the garage door opener, press and release the LEARN button for 2-3 seconds.
- On the universal remote, press and release the default button OR the button you just programmed once every 2 seconds until the garage door opener operates. Let it run until it stops.
ABOVE:Stop the Universal Transmitter LED from flashing before pressing the next button. - Repeat steps 1 and 2 above.
- Test the button: programming is complete.

GENIE® AND OVERHEAD DOOR® FIXED CODE DIP SWITCH CONVERSION INSTRUCTIONS
What do the coded DIP switches look like and how do I convert them to button presses on my new universal remote?
If you have a group of 9 switches with 3 positions per switch (trinar):
- Key in UP position = press button 1
- Key in middle position = press button 2
- Key in DOWN position = press button 4
In this example, the keystrokes would be:
If you have a 9-12 switch bank with 2 positions per switch (TRACKS):
- Key in UP position = press button 1
- Key in DOWN position = press button 4
In this example, the keystrokes would be:
STEP 1: Each shaded box below represents a DIP switch position.In these spaces, write the number 1, 2, or 4 that corresponds to the UP, MIDDLE, or DOWN switch position you see on the remote, opening head, or receiver.
Transform the code:
- Button in UP position = write a "1"
- Enter the MIDDLE position = write a "2"
- Key in DOWN position = type a "4".
Each box must contain 1, 2, or 4. Each box must match the position of the switch on the opener's or remote catcher's head. If you have less than 12 counters, just list the ones you have.

STEP 3: Programming the Universal Remote:
BEGIN LEARNING MODE:
- On the universal remote, press and hold #1.
- Hold down button #1 and press button #4 four times on the universal remote.
- Release both buttons: the WHITE LED on the remote will flash 4 times rapidly.
ENTER DIP KEY: - *On the universal remote, enter the numbers 1, 2, or 4 in the order you entered them in STEP 1. The LED lights with each key press.
- After entering the last position of the DIP switch, simply wait for the BLUE LED to flash 4 times quickly, then turn it off.
ENTER PASSWORD SELECTION MODE: - On the universal remote, press and hold #2.
- Hold down button #2 and press button #3 on the universal remote four times.
- Release both buttons: the BLUE LED on the remote will begin to flash.
- *Press the button of your choice on the universal remote the number of times indicated in Table B in STEP 2 above. You have 10 seconds to complete your entry.
- After pressing, just wait for the remaining 10 seconds - the BLUE LED will flash for a long time and then go out.
- Try the remote.
